Booking an Appointment: What to Expect

Initial Conversation:

I understand that accessing counselling, especially for the first time, can feel daunting and that finding the right therapist for you is an important part of this process.

If you would like to find out more I offer an initial 30 minute telephone conversation to enable us to briefly explore your situation, answer any questions you may have and help you make an informed choice about whether I am the right counsellor for you.  There is no charge for this and you are under no obligation to proceed with the counselling support.  If you feel you would like to explore things further, I will then email you a copy of my counselling agreement which sets out everything you need to know should you wish to access counselling sessions with me.

I generally suggest that we first speak via telephone as this offers more flexibility for us both and mean that we can have our conversation quite quickly after you initially contact me.  However, if you would prefer to meet in-person, please let me know and we can consider our availability for arranging this. Meeting in-person would be charged at my standard session fee.

Booking Counselling Appointments:

I offer sessions at £50 per 1 hour appointment.

Sessions are usually held weekly or fortnightly on the same day and time each week.  We can consider how many sessions you may need so that I am able to keep your preferred session day/time free for you.  However, we will routinely review things so that you can end your sessions when you feel ready to do so or extend them if you feel further support will be beneficial for you.  I ask that each session is paid for by BACS at least 24 hours in advance.

Our sessions can be held in-person (where we will meet face to face) or remotely by telephone or videocall.   You choose the approach that best suits your needs and I can help you think this through.

Cancellations and Ending of Counselling:

I understand that sometimes you may not be able to make an appointment or may decide that you do not wish to continue further with your counselling.  I ask that you contact me in advance to allow at least 24 hours’ notice of this.
